What is Chemical Educators Legal Liability Insurance?

Chemical Educators Legal Liability is coverage for chemical educators. The new Chemical Educators Legal Liability plan will help educators protect themselves against risks within classrooms, teaching and research labs and community outreach activities. The new plan specifically covers Contingent Bodily Injury, Pollution Liability, Employment Practices and Sexual Harassment (provided you are found not guilty or the charges are dismissed and subject to any other applicable policy term and/or condition) within the policy.

How does it differ from other ELL insurance plans?

Currently the insurance marketplace offers minimal protection for chemical educators by excluding Contingent Bodily Injury and Pollution Liability from their standard educators legal liability policies. The main differences are the new plan specifically covers Contingent Bodily Injury and Pollution Liability within the policy.

Why do I need it?

The Chemical Educators Legal Liability plan provides protection from possible lab accidents or fire and the liabilities related to these situations. When people file a lawsuit, they usually name everyone they perceive as having caused the situation. Educators can no longer assume that their institution or current educators legal liability policy will defend them should a lawsuit arise from their academic duties. Chemical Educators Legal Liability will fill the gaps that most standard coverages do not, by including Contingent Bodily Injury, Pollution Liability, Employment Practices and Sexual Harassment (provided you are found not guilty or the charges aare dismissed and subject to any other applicable policy term and/or condition) within the policy.

Who is eligible to apply for coverage?

Active members of ACS or the American Association of Chemistry Teachers (AACT) are eligible to apply.
